FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

 

Q: Who can become a member?  Why do I need to become a member?  

A: Any single parent who is either the sole parent or the parent with shared care.  Both men and women are welcome.  SPIN is a membership organisation - we record who has joined and details about children in order to produce statistics that help SPIN plan its work and also to support funding applications.  Monitoring and evaluation are essential to ensure that we are providing a good enough service. 
The requirement for members to complete a membership form is specificed in our constitution.  Members' names and details of their children are not given in any statistics or information unless by agreement.

Q:  How much does it cost and what does SPIN do? 
A: SPIN is currently free.  Please got to the SPIN MEMBERSHIP page and download the SPIN INFORMATION SHEET.
Q: Do SPIN members meet up?
A: SPIN has not been set up as a social and event organisation but SPIN provides regular information about events taking place and members can communicate with each other on the online group and meet up.   We have organised some events where a group of SPIN members attended an evening at the Sussex Arts Club, a camping trip to a music festival, Christmas lunch in Stanmer Park, Take Part Sports Festival, Kite Festival,  days on the beach or in the park etc   Recently some members made contact with each other specifically because they all have young babies.  SPIN is looking for volunteers willing to organise meet-ups and projects (see VOLUNTEER FOR SPIN page.
