Are you a single parent in Sussex? Feel like you are always juggling?
Being a single parent shouldnt define us as a person but it does dominate especially when your child(ren) are young. SPIN appreciates that single parenthood and shared parenting can restrict and impact negatively on the parents and children.
The process of adapting to being a single parent is complex, changing a personal relationship into more of a business relatonship and learning how to parent apart instead of together. But for many single parents, the experience is parenting alone without support of any sort.
Single parents do the job of two with less money, time and energy. The burden can become extreme when the separation involved domestic violence or betrayal or bereavement.
Single parents who lose their home and are faced with debts, ongoing conflict and managing the feelings of the children can often find themselves depressed, anxious and isolated.
